Presidents Eric Greenwood
(2015-21) and Melissa Arias
(2021-2022) take a holiday pause to review the Foundation’s Year of 2021:
“It’s been over three decades
since a coalition of civic leaders and community members came together to create the Scholarship Foundation of Northshore (SFN) – a volunteer run, private foundation committed to helping students overcome the financial barriers to higher education. Today, our impact is great
, but the challenges our students are facing are even greater.
“2021 was a year like no other -- online school, online graduation, first lectures delivered over zoom and college campus experiences curtailed. But the cost of tuition, books and necessities did not lessen. Fortunately, YOU
were there. Because of your generous support and belief in the mission of SFN –scholarship committees met over zoom, scholarship packages were assembled and 80 students received awards totaling $304,500. Volunteers canvassed the community placing yard signs of awardees and even hosted two impactful online ceremonies, so that students could feel the commitment of their community with them as they started this next chapter
of their lives.
“We’ve exceeded even the boldest dreams of what our founders thought this program could accomplish. Hundreds of scholarships awarded across diverse career and technical fields to students in every one of the Northshore School District high schools! Your generosity is humbling, and we are deeply grateful.

Foundation’s first annual report
Our complete annual report for 2021 will be available in January. It will be provided to all our Donor Partners and those who we hope will consider offering a new scholarship in 2023 for academic year 2023-2024. In 2023, on the eve of our 40th anniversary, we will continue work to grow the scholarships in number and in value. Building on the 91 to be offered in 2022, help us exceed 100 or more in 2023.
